Deep Tech Kyoto - Reverse Pitch by University Faculty for Management Recruitment from ECC-iCAP - "Life Science Pioneers Future Society" in Kyoto

This project was selected by NEDO as part of its "FY2023 Project to Support the Recruitment of Management Professionals for University Startups (MPM)," with the aim of identifying management professionals who are interested in starting their own businesses or participating in startup management, and matching them with technology seeds from universities and other organizations and university startups. The purpose of this program is to discover management talents who wish to start their own businesses or participate in start-up management.

Introduction of Speakers ■

Yoshimasa Kawaguchi(Assistant Professor, Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University)
D., Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kyoto University, in March 2016; Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (DC2) from April 2014 to March 2016; Research Fellow at Shionogi & Co. from April 2016 to July 2021; Assistant Professor at the Institute of Scientific Research, Kyoto University, in August 2021; and current position. D. (Pharmaceutical Sciences).
Toward the creation of new drug discovery modalities, we are developing intracellular delivery technologies for medium-sized macromolecules based on peptide chemistry and protein engineering.

Kim Minsoo(Associate Professor, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University)
D. in Biochemistry, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo in September 2001. He studied proteolysis at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science and the Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo, and has been a specific associate professor at the Hakubi Center since 2015 and in his current position since 2020. Doctor of Science.
He specializes in post-translational modification and proteolysis. He is involved in drug discovery research that artificially manipulates proteolysis.

Hidetoshi Sakurai(Associate Professor, iPS Cell Research Institute, Kyoto University)
Graduated from Nagoya University School of Medicine in 1998. After working at Nagoya Byusaikai Hospital, he received his degree, and after working as a researcher at Nagoya University School of Medicine and at the Kyoto University Center for iPS Cell Research, he became an independent PI at the Kyoto University iPS Cell Research Institute in 2009, and hosted his own lab there from 2015. D. in Medicine.
The project aims to establish a treatment for intractable muscle diseases (especially muscular dystrophy) using iPS cells through two processes (cell transplantation therapy and drug development).

Hideki Nakamura(Specific Associate Professor, Hakubi Center, Kyoto University)
He received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Tokyo. After working as an Assistant Professor at RIKEN and the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, he studied at The Johns Hopkins University as a Research Fellow.He will be a Specified Assistant Professor at Hamachi ERATO, Kyoto University in 2019 and a Specified Associate Professor at Hakubi Center from 2021. Doctor of Science.
I specialize in synthetic biology, which is the study of designing and manipulating biological phenomena. I would like to understand the design principles and history of the "society" of cells.

Yasutsugu Miki(Associate Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University)
Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University in 1999. After working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Research Institute in the U.S. and as a JSPS Research Fellow PD, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor for Science and Technology Promotion at Kyoto University's Nanomedicine Integration Education Unit in 2005. After working as an assistant professor and lecturer at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, he assumed his current position in 2014. D. in Engineering.
His specialty is synthetic organic chemistry. His research interests include synthesis of functional molecules and their application to molecular imaging and drug delivery.
