Execution of Investment in CONNEXX SYSTEMS, Inc.

Innovation Kyoto 2016 Investment Limited Partnership ("KYOTO-icap No.1 Fund"), with Kyoto University Innovation Capital Corporation ("Kyoto iCAP") (Head office: Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Koji Murota) as unlimited liability partner, will invest in a venture company, CONNEXX SYSTEMS Co. (headquartered in Seika-machi, Souraku-gun, Kyoto; Hisashi Tsukamoto, Representative Director), a venture company that utilizes the results of research at Kyoto University.

Concerning the Execution of the Investment in CONNEXX SYSTEMS
CONNEXX SYSTEMS is a venture company engaged in the development, sales, and system integration of next-generation storage batteries and power storage systems. The company is developing energy storage systems using the Bind Battery™, which integrates a lithium-ion battery and a water-based battery, and is also developing next-generation energy storage technologies such as the Hyper Battery™, which has power performance equivalent to an ultracapacitor and an energy density 20 times greater than that of an ultracapacitor, and the Shuttle Battery™, which has an energy density 14 times greater than that of a lithium-ion battery. We are also developing next-generation energy storage technologies such as the Hyper Battery™, which has power performance equivalent to an ultracapacitor and energy density more than 20 times that of an ultracapacitor, and the Shuttle Battery™, which has energy density 14 times that of a lithium-ion battery.

In particular, the Shuttle Battery™ is a high-temperature operating all-solid-state storage battery that combines a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and an iron-air battery, and is expected to be applied to large-scale power storage systems and mobile devices that require long-term and large-scale load leveling. CONNEXX SYSTEMS is currently conducting research and development on SOFC membrane efficiency and thermal design of power generation systems in collaboration with a research group led by Associate Professor Hiroshi Iwai of the Thermal Engineering Laboratory, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University.

Kyoto iCAP, with hopes that Kyoto University's research results could contribute to solving energy and environmental problems, has responded to a third-party allocation of new shares totaling 530 million yen, together with Daiwa Corporate Investment Corporation, Future Venture Capital Corporation, and Kyogin Leasing Capital Co. Ltd. and Kyobin Lease Capital Co.
