Execution of Investment in AFI Technology, Inc.

Innovation Kyoto 2016 Investment Limited Partnership ("KYOTO-iCAP No.1 Fund"), with Kyoto University Innovation Capital Corporation ("Kyoto iCAP") (Head office: Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Koji Murota) as unlimited liability partner, has made an investment in AFI Technology Inc. ("AFI") (Head office: Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Takaharu Enjoji), a venture company that utilizes research results from Kyoto University.

AFI is a company that develops and markets equipment and devices for rapid, label-free separation and purification of cells and microorganisms based on fundamental technologies developed in collaboration with the Department of Breast Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University (Professor Masakazu Toi),It is recognized as a one-of-a-kind technology that satisfies unmet needs in a wide range of fields, including quality inspection, clinical testing, and bio-product manufacturing.

Now, Kyoto iCAP is following up on AFI's Series A private placement in May 2016 with a Series B private placement totaling 430 million yen,(Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Sachiko Hirabayashi), SMBC Venture Capital (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Tatsufumi Ishibashi), Chushin Venture Capital Co. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Satoshi Morikawa)In response to the request, the Company invested ¥200 million in the company as a lead investor.

AFI is the result of this financing,Eresta" food microbiology analyzer, "Eresta Core" clinical microbiology concentrator, "Eresta Sort" cell separator, andProducts for various fields as the Eresta SeriesThe company will launch the product in the market in earnest and begin overseas development.
