NEWTopics.Selected for JAXA Space Exploration Innovation Hub joint research aiming for the world's first lunar surface demonstration of wireless power transmission
-
We submitted a joint proposal with Nagoya Institute of Technology and others to the 10th Call for Research Proposals conducted by JAXA's Space Exploration Innovation Hub.
Development of 24GHz high efficiency high power transmission system (WPT) and novel GaN-based rectifier elements for use on Earth and in space" was selected.
In this research and development project, a technology demonstration of a power transmission and reception system will be conducted using "wireless power transmission in the 24 GHz band" as a common technology for both space and ground applications. In addition, a gallium nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor, which is expected to provide highly efficient power conversion to direct current, will be used for microwave power reception.
Through these efforts, we aim to realize a 24-GHz wireless power transmission system on the lunar surface as soon as possible, and to promote the widespread use of this technology on the ground.
