Innovation Kyoto 2016 Investment Limited Partnership ("KYOTO-icap No.1 Fund"), with Kyoto University Innovation Capital Corporation ("Kyoto iCAP") (Head Office: Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Koji Murota) as general partner, has made an additional investment in Tiem Factory Co. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masahiro Yamaji), a venture company that utilizes the results of research at Kyoto University.

Outline of this investment
TM Factory is a venture company working on the practical application of SUFA, a transparent heat insulating aerogel. It is expected to be applied in a wide range of fields such as housing, logistics, and automobiles, where lightweight and heat insulation properties are required.

Efforts to reduce energy consumption are important for realizing a sustainable society, and aerogels, which can provide both transparency and thermal insulation in energy conservation through heat management, are attracting attention. However, until now it has been difficult to produce aerogel in plate form at a realistic cost.

Based on the results of joint research with Kyoto University, TM Factory has established the world's first method for producing transparent sheet aerogel at a realistic cost. Plate aerogel can be deployed in numerous products, including insulated windows, insulated walls, packaging materials, and automobiles. Thieme Factory is currently working with YKK AP Co., Ltd. to develop heat-insulating windows and to prepare for mass production of sheet aerogel.

Kyoto iCAP highly evaluated Thieme Factory, which has established a manufacturing method for transparent insulation materials that can contribute to energy conservation in society and is developing products for practical use, and participated in the Series C round with a total funding of 410 million yen and executed a 100 million yen investment.
