Deep Tech Kyoto with UTokyo/Utokyo IPC - Reverse pitch by university faculty recruiting managers from ECC-iCAP - "AI opens up the future society" in Tokyo

This project was selected by NEDO as part of its "FY2023 Project to Support the Recruitment of Management Professionals for University Startups (MPM)," with the aim of identifying management professionals who are interested in starting their own businesses or participating in startup management, and matching them with technology seeds from universities and other organizations and university startups. The purpose of this program is to discover management talents who wish to start their own businesses or participate in start-up management.

This year's event will be held at the University of Tokyo x Kyoto University!

Research Seeds like this! Reverse Pitch Event by University Faculty

This event invites professors from academia, mainly from Kyoto University, to reverse pitch their research seeds for social implementation.

This year's theme will focus on "AI" in collaboration with the University of Tokyo IPC (University of Tokyo Collaborative Platform Development Corporation). Five of Todai and Kyoto University's proud scientific front-runners will take the stage, offering you a chance to turn cutting-edge research that will change the future into a business (social implementation). Discussion time with each speaker will be provided, and we look forward to your participation if you are interested in university-launched startup entrepreneurship!

Introduction of Speakers ■

Kiyoshi Izumi(Professor, Department of Systems Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo)
D. in 1998 from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. D. in 1998 from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo. He has been an associate professor at the Department of Systems Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo since 2010, and a professor since 2015. He is interested in financial informatics, market simulation, and financial data mining.
He is a member of IEEE, Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, Information Processing Society of Japan, and Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

Koji Inoue (Assistant Professor, Department of Intelligent Media, Division of Informatics, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University)
Born in 1990. Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. D. in Informatics. D. in Informatics. His research interests include spoken dialogue systems and conversational robots. His goal is to understand the mechanism of human communication by creating a human-like conversational AI.
Author of "Spoken Dialogue Systems: From Basics to Implementation" (Ohmsha). Selected as one of the "Top 10 inventions in the world in 2022" by Netexplo, an initiative of the French business newspaper Les Echos and UNESCO.

Toshiyuki Kanamaru (Associate Professor, Department of English, Center for International Academic Language Education, Kyoto University)
Completed graduate studies at Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University. D. in Human and Environmental Studies. D. in Human and Environmental Studies from the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, Japan. He developed and has been involved in the operation of GORILLA, an English e-Learning system used by all new students at Kyoto University. His current research focuses on the introduction and impact of generative AI on English education.
Lectures and media coverage on foreign language education and generative AI include EDIX Tokyo 2024, Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, and many others.

Riro Nomura(Associate Professor, Graduate School of Education, Kyoto University)
After working as an associate professor at Hiroshima University, he assumed his current position in 2010. D. in Science. D. in Science, he has conducted a wide range of implementation research based on cognitive science, brain science, XR, etc. in basic research PI. He has served as an advisor to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on international economic research projects and listed companies. He has also served as the lead editor of an international academic journal and as the chairman of the Design Innovation Consortium Promotion Committee (July 2024-).
He is the author of "Why Are We Attracted to Duck Mouths?" (KADOKAWA, 2010) and The Brain's Reward System (Maruzen Publishing, 2019).

Kazuo Yonekura (Lecturer, Department of Systems Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo)
B.S., Aerospace Engineering, The University of Tokyo, 2008; M.S., Information Science and Engineering, 2008. D. in Information Science and Engineering. (While engaged in research and development of aero engines and rockets at IHI Corporation, he conducted research on data-driven design. Specialized in optimization. He is particularly interested in the fusion of mechanics/physics and machine learning in optimal design and its industrial applications. He is also involved in rocket startups.
Member of the editorial board of the Encyclopedia of Optimization and Optimal Design.
