Deep Tech Kyoto - Reverse Pitch by University Faculty from ECC-iCAP - "Future Society Pioneered by Agri/Biotech" in Kyoto

This project was selected by NEDO as part of its "FY2023 Project to Support the Recruitment of Management Professionals for University Startups (MPM)," with the aim of identifying management professionals who are interested in starting their own businesses or participating in startup management, and matching them with technology seeds from universities and other organizations and university startups. The purpose of this program is to discover management talents who wish to start their own businesses or participate in start-up management.

This event invites professors from academia, mainly from Kyoto University, to reverse pitch their research seeds for social implementation.

The keyword for this year's event is "Agri/Biotech",Kyoto University is proud of its five front-runners in sciencewill take the stage to offer a chance to turn cutting-edge research that will change the future into a business (social implementation). There will also be time for discussion with the speakers,We look forward to welcoming those interested in university start-up entrepreneurship!

Meet the Speakers: ========


Dr. Takeshi Ise (Associate Professor, Field Science Education and Research Center, Kyoto University)
D. in Biology from Harvard University in 2008. D. in Biology, he has been working on forest observation using advanced information technologies such as computer simulation, satellite observation, and deep learning to predict future environmental changes and sustainable development of local communities.


Dr. Takashi Kobayashi, Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University
D. in March 2003 from the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University. D. in Agriculture.
He is studying the synthesis of functional materials by subcritical water. He is also involved in research from the perspective of environmental issues, such as the preparation of heat storage microcapsules and plant substitute meat.


Dr. Yoshimori Sung-Hwa (Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University)
He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyoto University in 2012, and received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University in 2017. After working as a researcher at a private company, he became an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University in 2021 and an L-INSIGHT Fellow at Kyoto University in 2022. With the support of JST START GAP Fund and Mitsubishi Corporation Startup Catapult of Kyoto University, he is engaged in basic research and social implementation of biosensors using conductive enzymes to overcome industrial challenges in biomanufacturing. Dr. Satoru Tachibana (Researcher, Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University)
After working as a development researcher for an electronics manufacturer, he received his degree from the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University in March 2024. D. (Human and Environmental Studies), and has been a researcher at Kyoto University's Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies since April 2024.
He also conducts theoretical research (methodology) and biological research toward the creation of new biomimetics. He also actively gives lectures at high schools, conducts seminars at companies, and writes articles to promote biomimetics-related themes from various perspectives.


Dr. Norihide Nihon (Professor, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University)
In 1993, he completed a master's degree at the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University. After working as a researcher at the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), he has been in his current position since 2019. D. (Agronomy). Engaged in the development of pest control technologies that protect crop yields without relying on chemical pesticides. Specializes in biological pest control using natural enemies, from DNA to landscape.
