z Execution of Investment in CleanHearing Inc.
CleanHearing is a medical device venture that aims to provide the world with a new tinnitus treatment device that combines cortical electromagnetic and acoustic stimulation that can be performed at home.
Tinnitus is an extremely common symptomatic disease that significantly impairs quality of life. At present, however, there is no effective treatment. CleanHearing has been working on the development of a new type of tinnitus treatment device, based on a prototype that has been marketed in several European countries and with the cooperation of several Japanese manufacturers.
CleanHearing has recently entered into a scientific and technical advisory agreement with Dr. Takayuki Nakagawa, Lecturer, Department of Otolaryngology, Kyoto University Hospital. The agreement aims to strengthen the clinical evidence (POC) for a new tinnitus treatment device by utilizing the results based on basic and clinical research related to sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus that Dr. Nakagawa has conducted to date.
Kyoto iCAP has highly evaluated the social significance of CleanHearing's challenge to bring a new therapeutic device to the many patients suffering from tinnitus by utilizing the knowledge of researchers at Kyoto University. In addition, Kyoto iCAP has made a seed investment of 20 million yen in the hope that academic progress on tinnitus will be fed back to Kyoto University through this initiative.
